Stadium(s)
The match takes place at the impressive Stadium Australia, or the former Olympic Stadium if you prefer, as the ground was originally built for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, before becoming the home of Rugby League in Sydney.
It has played hoe to just about every Sydney based Rugby League club since opening, with Canterbury and the Rabbitohs still calling it home to this very day but away from that, it is also the home of the New South Wales Blues State of Origin side, and it hosts the NRL Grand Final every season.
The stadium features a lower tier bowl design that features only general access seating before the two sides of the ground go up into the sky.
Both feature two extra tiers of general access seating as well as some corporate facilites with one side also having an extra small tier of media facilites.
All in all that allows for around 82,000 fans to be live in attendance at the match and whilst that capacity can often be far too large for many matches and leave the atmosphere flat for matches, there will be a bumper crowd there for this one and that should lead to a great atmosphere well worthy of a match up such as this one.
Location
Although the club were traditionally located in the Maroubra suburb of Sydney and represented the southern districts of the city in the old NSWRL competitions, with Redfern been the most widely known of those suburbs with regards the club, the match will take place in the Sydney Olympic Park District.
That is a district of the Greater Western Sydney region and is located around 13 kilometres to the west of the main Sydney central business district.
It was originally part of the suburb of Lidcombe, when it was known as North Lidcombe, before becoming known as Homebush Bay and then the Olympic Park district and even to this day, some older fans refer to the stadium as Homebush.
Nowadays, it is an entertainment and sports complex that is home to many huge events including the Sydney Easter Show, the Sydney Festival, the NRL Grand Final and State of Origin matches across multiple venues in the suburb.
