Stadium(s)
This could place at one of two places, Stadium Australia or Belmore Sports Ground but it will more than likely take place at the massive former Olympic Stadium.
The stadium is one of the largest in the southern hemisphere and has become a hugely important stadium for the sport with it hosting multiple NRL clubs, the New South Wales State of Origin side and it is the host venue for the NRL Grand Final.
It is a large bowl of a stadium with a lower tier of general access seats that wraps around all sides of the ground.
That where things end behind both set of sticks, but the main stand down each touchline extend over multiple tiers that are a mix of general access seating and corporate facilities including media facilites and boxes.
All in all that comes together for a capacity of around 82,000 fans and whilst that can be too large for many games played at the ground, for this match the stands will be packed and the attendance will be incredible.
Location
The club are traditionally based in the Belmore suburb of Sydney, and it is there where their administration is still located but with the ground likely to take place at Stadium Australia, it means it will happen in the Sydney Olympic Park.
The city’s Olympic Park is now a suburb of Greater Western Sydney but used to be known as Homebush Bay, with many fans still refereeing to the ground as Homebush.
Interestingly, the district falls under the control of the Parramatta council which explains why there will be some many ‘away’ fans in attendance for this one and why there will be such a bumper crowd.
The SOP sits around 13 kilometres to the west of the downtown Sydney Central Business District and around 12 kilometres due north of the suburb of Belmore.
