Stadium(s)
The Tigers were established by merging the Balmain Tigers and the Western Suburb Magpies, so it is perhaps not two surprising that they have two grounds that they call home but with both of those stadiums lacking in modern facilities and especially in corporate facilites, many big games get moved to the Western Sydney Stadium, so the Tigers actually have three grounds that this match could take place at.
The first option is Leichhardt Oval, which was the long-term home ground of the Balmain Tigers and still hosts lower-level Rugby League competition on a regular occasion as well as some matches for Wests.
Nowadays, the ground is a mix of the historic and the relatively modern highlighted by one part featuring a few seats but still housing the historic scoreboard.
One stand is a multiple level one with some basic seating on the lower level and modern seating on the upper level and this stand also features some basic corporate facilities.Running down one side of the field is a small bank of seating and a large grass bank that is always popular option for families on sunny days.
The other end of the ground is home to a mix of grass banking, terracing and a small, covered stand which all comes together for a full capacity of around 20,000 fans.
Another option for them is the Campbelltown Sports Stadium that was the ground of the original Western Suburbs Magpies, who still paly in the NSW Cup there, and that is a ground that feel much more like an historic American stadium or one from the Mediterranean.
That is because the ground is mostly just a single tier bowl that is open to the elements all there is one small roof section on one side and one small stand bult behind the bowl on the other side that houses the main facilities of the ground.
It is unlikely this match will be moved to the impressive Western Sydney Stadium, or the CommBank Stadium if you prefer but if it does, it will be played at one of the best stadiums in Australia.
The stadium is a modern one that mainly features a two-tier bowl made of general access seating but one side of the stadium is multi-level stand featuring some regular seating, some corporate seating, some boxes and all of the stadium’s media facilites which all comes together to be able to host around 30,000 fans.
Location
One thing is for sure; the match will take place in New South Wales but again, it could be in one of three places.
If it happens at the Leichhardt Oval, it will be the Sydney suburb of Lily field where the match takes place, which is around 6 miles west of the central business district of the city.
It does border the suburb of Leichhardt, from which the stadium get sits name as it was originally based there before boundary changes.
If the match takes place at the Campbelltown Stadium, it will be the Leumeah suburb of Sydney that hosts the game, with that been much farther from the city centre with it been around 52 kilometres to the south-west of the Sydney central business district.
It is in the city of Campbelltown, in the Macarthur region which whilst some distance to the city, it does offer good transport links via the Leumeah railway station, which is next door to the stadium.
Lastly, if the match does take place at the Western Sydney Stadium, it will be the Sydney suburb of Parramatta that hosts the game, which is around 24 kilometres from the central business district and is considered to be the secondary CBD of the city.
About
This is a battle between two relatively new sides but who also have long histories as the Tigers are formed form merging two clubs who were foundation members in Australia and the Knights developed out of a history of Newcastle clubs playing in Sydney comps and their own comps.
