The match takes place at the impressive Mount Smart Stadium, which has also had a number of sponsored names down the years including the Ericsson Stadium and the Go Media Stadium, but no matter what you know it as, it is a modern stadium that hosts the Warriors and the Kiwi national test side.

The ground has a unique look and feel to it thanks in part to been built into the quarried remnants of the Rarotonga or Mount Smart volcano.

The stadium is now made up of two main stands, that runs down the touchlines of both sides of the field and that are made up of two tiers of seating as well as some corporate facilities.

When packed out, as it likely will be for this one with plenty of those in New Zealand also backing the Rabbits, it is a ground that offers an incredible atmosphere although no NRL game has ever come close to the incredible Rugby League World Cup semi-final match between England and Tonga.

That was one of the most incredible atmospheres of any sport of any time and has gone down in the folklore of the sport.

As mentioned, there stadium is built on an old volcano, on a hill side which gives the stadium a unique location.

About

This is a battle between the old guard of the Rabbits and the international expansion team for the Warriors with South Sydney been established way back in 1908 and the Warriors in 1995- although their history does go back much further than that of course.
