Melbourne Storm v North Queensland Cowboys News
The Melbourne Storm have led the way as an expansion club after not only establishing themselves in a state where there was little Rugby League played at the time, but they also went on to become one of the most successful clubs with some of the biggest crowds.
The Cowboys may only have existed for a few more years than the Storm but they come from a Rugby League hotbed in northern Queensland and interestingly, much of the success of the Storm was based on signing the best players from the maroon state.
That has always added an extra element to these matches as well as the interstate nature of them, so that attracts plenty of interest not just from the fanbases of both clubs but also for neutrals.
Despite all of that, the remote nature of these two clubs in terms of the Sydney and Brisbane media landscape can see the game get overlooked which makes it hard for fans to keep up with the news, or at least that used to be the case as we bring you all of the latest news in one place.

Stadium(s)
The match takes place at the impressive Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, perhaps better known to most by its long term sponsored name of AAMI Park.
The ground is always easy to recognise thanks to its green seats and bulbous design, but it is also a perfect sized stadium that is often packed out and that delivers an incredible atmosphere.
The stadium can be split into two separate sections, the single tier all-seater stands that are behind both sets of sticks and the two main stands that run down either side of the full length of the pitch.
These are 3 tiered, with a small seating section next to the pitch, with a corporate area above it and then a large tier of general access seating above it.
All-in-all the stadium can host around 30,000 fans when full and with the stands set to be packed out for this one, the match has the perfect setting for a great game of Rugby.
As well as hosting the Storm, the ground has also hosted many international test matches including games at the Rugby League World Cup when hosted in the country.
Location
The stadium is part of the former Olympic Park in Melbourne on Swan Street, which is just to the east of the Melbourne central business district.
The district is home to many of Melbourne’s leading sporting arenas in an area known as the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Precinct.
The precinct is located in the suburbs of Melbourne and Jolimont, close to East Melbourne and Richmond and around 3km’s from the city centre.
As well as hosting AAMI Park, the area also is home to the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Melbourne Park tennis complex that hosts the annual Australian Open Grand Slam.
