Stadium
The match takes pace at Belle Vue Stadium in the West Yorkshire capital city of Wakefield and whilst the stadium has been a big problem for the club, it is now worthy of a club with the history and prestige of Wakefield.
For much of the summer era, the ground has been in need of redevelopment and as the ground got worse and worse, the clubs attendances dipped, and their already meagre finances just got worse and worst.
That made Belle Vue a millstone around the neck of the club but thankfully, things have now changed, and the ground is a tidy stadium worthy of Trin and with plans for the future, it could easily become one of the better small stadiums in England for Rugby League.
Much of the improvement is down to the club’s new main stand, which runs the full length of the field and that offers some corporate facilities.
The all-seater stand sits opposite the main cameras which makes the ground instantly better to fans watching along on television.
Another great element of stadium is the developed north stand, which is behind on set of sticks and that features a two-tier terrace that is partially covered and that houses the bulk of the most vocal home supporters who always deliver a great atmosphere on match day.
Running down the other side of the field is a small single their terrace that is still in need and redeveloping whilst the final stand, behind the other set of sticks, is the infamous block of corporate boxes that gives Belle Vue a unique look and that makes it instantly recognisable on match day.
Location
The city of Wakefield is the host of the game and the home of Trinity but in terms of the sport it is so much more than that.
The city is one of the true hotbeds of the sport, with the district been home to numerous professional, amateur and junior clubs.
It produces many of the sports top stars and it is almost midway across the M62 corridor, which is often thought of as the corridor of the sport’s traditional northern heartlands.
Despite there been quite a distance between the 2 clubs, this is actually one of the closest away games for the Robins, so there is always a bumper away following which always adds to the atmosphere on game day.
