Stadium(s)
The St George Illawarra Dragons were formed out of merging two clubs together, the Illawarra Steelers and the St George Dragons which has left the club in the position where they have two home grounds that they call home- each the former home ground of those two clubs.
That means the match could be played at either the Wollongong Showground, the former home of the Illawarra Steelers, or the Jubilee Stadium (Oval), the former home of the St George Dragons.
The Wollongong Showground, also known as WIN Stadium, features a hodge-podge of stands including a large two-tier roofed stand that is all-seater and runs the length of the field, there is a all-seater stand behind one set of sticks that is single tier.
Behind the other set of sticks is a two tier all-seater stand that wraps around one corner of the ground and opens up on to a grass bank that runs down the far touchline.
The other option is for the action to take place at the Jubilee Stadium, which also goes by the name of the Jubilee Oval or the Kogorah Oval, which is a spacious bowl of stadium where many of the seats are far from the action and uncovered- although the bowl only wraps around part of the ground.
There is one upper tier section along one touchline that goes over the top of the amin ‘bowl’ and that features some corporate facilities and a small roof.
Away from the main single tier-bowl, the rest of the stadium is an open-air grass banking.
Location
If the match takes pace at the Showgrounds, it will be the city of Wollongong that hosts the action, which is found in the Illawarra region of New South Wales.
It is around 85 kilometres, or 53 miles if you prefer, to the south of Sydney and on the Pacific coast- something that is a standout feature of the ground as those in the upper tier of the main stand have incredible sea views from their seat.
If the match is played at the Kogarah Oval, it will be the Sydney suburb of Carlton that hosts the action, which is around 15 kilometres to the south of the downtown Sydney Central Business District.
Carlton is in the St George region of the city, and the ground sits in the far east of the district near the border with the Kogarah suburb.
