The match takes place at the Mend-a-Hose Jungle, known more commonly as simply the Jungle or to older fans as Wheldon Road but no matter what you know the ground as, there can be no denying that it is arguably the worst stadium of any fully professional Rugby League club in the northern hemisphere.
The ground is in desperate need of either a full renovation or rebuilding form the ground up and whilst the club have looked at ways of doing that and have gone through a number of different plans for new stadiums, the current ground continues to deteriorate.
With safety concerns limiting the number of fans in the ground and most of the stand been old fashioned terracing with a low rake, the ground often looks full on television and the fans also help to cover up some of the less aesthetic parts of it.
There is one big plus side to the stadium however and that is the great fans who fill it week in week out as the Castleford fans are amongst the most passionate and vocal in the sport.
When playing well, that works in the club’s favour as they back their side from minute 1 to minute 80 but it can just as soon work against them as they will make their feeling known if the players are deemed to be lacking in effort.
The pitch is also one of the smallest in the professional game, which means the players will have to be at their very best to make the room need to score and that should set things up to be a great match that remains in the balance throughout.
