Gold Coast Titans v Melbourne Storm News

For much of the NRL era, these two-expansion club have had different existences, with Victoria’s Storm battling it out at the top of the sport and enjoying periods of dominance, whilst the Queensland based Titans have struggled at the foot of the table and only really had a battle to avoid the wooden spoon.
Much of that was based around the signing the best Queenslanders that they could get their hands on, so there has often been a bit of extra interest in these matches.
Whilst the Storm may not be the force that they are and the Titans have improved so they shouldn’t hopefully be in need of the win to void last, it does set this Robina battle up to be much closer than many have been and that adds a whole new level of interest and intrigue for both fanbases.
Unfortunately, with both been far from the Sydney media centre, it can be a game that gets overlooked by many neutrals until gameday and even the most ardent fans can find it tricky to keep up with all of the latest news.
At least that used to be the case as we bring you all of the latest news headlines for the match in one place, right here!

Stadium(s)
The match takes place at the Robina Stadium, also know as the Cbus Super Stadium due to sponsorship reasons, which has been the home of the Titans since the 2008 NRL season.
The stadium is always easy to spot on match day thanks to its bright blue and yellow colour scheme and for its wrap around bowl shape more often associated with European stadiums.
The bulk of the stadium is a single tier bowl, that is all seater, but with some corporate facilites along the touchlines including the western side which houses corporate boxes and media.
All in all it comes together to be able to host around 27 and a half thousand fans when full and whilst it may not have the sold-out signs up for match such as this one, there should be a healthy crowd in attendance.
As well as hosting the Titans, the stadium has also hosted many international test matches including games at the Rugby League World Cup when hosted in the country.
Location
As you would likely expect if you know any about the region, Robina Stadium is located in the Gold Coast suburb of Robina in the state of Queensland.
It is a planned residential community in a popular seaside holiday resort area that has easy access to the beautiful beaches of Queensland but little else going for it.
That makes it a popular retirement location, which sees people move there from across the country which can often make the Titans the second team of many ‘home fans’ who have moved there from places such as Sydney and Brisbane.
The stadium itself is located at the far eastern end of the district, close to the Robina train station and the Pacific Motorway, which does make it easy to reach for many fans.
About
This is a matchup between two expansion clubs but whilst the Titans are based in the Queensland hotbed of the sport, the Storm have led the way in Victoria as an ‘outpost’ club.
