Rugby League may not have enjoyed much success down the years in the region but there has been plenty of amateur level activity and the south west of the England has long been a well established region for student rugby, of both the 13 and 15 man code.

Stadium
The club currently plays at the Memorial Ground in the picturesque west Cornwall town of Penryn.
The stadium is shared with the towns Union club and is capable of hosting around 4,000 fans but a couple of seats in the main grandstand.
Location
Although only a relatively small town for a professional Rugby League club, it is located near to the larger town of Falmouth and as the club’s name suggests, they are aimed at fans from across the county and not just from the town they play in.
About
The club currently have many achievements despite been one of the youngest clubs in the world as they are the southernmost professional club in the United Kingdom and the only one who can claim to have represented both the capital of Canada, a small town in Hertfordshire and a rural town in Cornwall.
History
The history of the club can be traced back to Hemel Hempstead when the towns Rugby League club, the Hemel Stags, dropped back down to the amateur ranks after a few years in the semi-professional ranks.
As a full member of the Rugby Football League, the club were able to sell there license and it was Eric Perez who bought it.
The founder of the Toronto Wolfpack had every intention of starting up a new team in Canada, but this time it was to be in the city of Ottawa and the club would be known as the Ottawa Aces.
As with so many aspects of life, those plans were disrupted and then ended by the global pandemic and the clubs owner looked to establish a new side playing out of the UK.
With a focus on expansion and developing professional sport in an under-utilised area, the county of Cornwall was deemed the perfect fit and the club set up life playing out of the town of Penryn.
The club’s first ever head coach was Neil Kelly and there first signing was Anthony Mullally, a former Super League star who had just retired to live in the county.
The clubs first ever match was away to the North Wales Crusaders in April 2002, but it was a tough first outing as they lost 62 points to 22.
There first home game cam one week later when they faced the Midlands Hurricanes but once again they came up short and on the back of a heavy loss with the away side winning 14-60.
It took a long time for the club to finally pick up a win, but that momentous day did come in July 2022, when they came away from Wales with a 4-24 win at the West Wales Raiders.
